How to Add Support for Another Language in Windows 10 or 11
Have you ever found yourself needing to type in another language or change your Windows 10 display language? Whether you’re learning a new language or need to work in a different one, Windows 10 makes it easy to add support for other languages. If you want your newly added language to be the default display language (so menus, notifications, and apps appear in that language), you can set it as your default.
Here’s how:
- In the Preferred languages section, find the new language you just installed.
- Click on it, and then click Set as default.
Your computer may ask you to sign out and sign back in to apply the changes, so make sure to save any work before you do that.
Step 7: Changing the Keyboard Layout (Optional)
If you’re adding a language primarily for typing, you might want to switch the keyboard layout. After adding the language:
- Go back to the Language settings.
- Under Preferred languages, click on the language and then click Options.
- From here, you can add or remove keyboard layouts to suit your needs.
You can easily switch between keyboard layouts by pressing Windows Key + Space.
