How Can I Disable Windows Messenger in Windows XP?
To disable Windows Messenger in Windows XP, follow the steps below:
- Click the Start button and select Run... .
- In the Run dialog box, enter gpedit.msc .
- Under "Computer Configuration", click the + (plus sign) next to "Administrative Templates". Then click the + (plus sign) next to "Windows Components".
- Click Windows Messenger.
- On the right side of the window, you will now see two options. One will keep Windows Messenger from running on startup, and the other will prevent Windows Messenger from running altogether. To activate either one, double-click it and then select enabled.
