Change Registered Owner or Company in Vista
When installing Windows Vista, you may inadvertantly mispell the Registered User or Company name. It does happen! Now you may be thinking that you have to re-install in order to fix the mistake, but not so. You can perform a small tweak to the registry to change the information as needed.
Follow these steps to change the registered user name or the company name in Windows Vista:
- Click Start, then in the search area type:
Regedit
- After opening the Registry editor, browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion
- Look for the two values named RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization. Double-click the one you'd like to change.
- Change the values as needed
