Preventing the Logon Screen Saver from Launching

Windows NT has a default screen saver called login.scr, which runs even if no screen saver has been selected. This can present a security risk, as it can allow a local user to replace login.scr with another program and have it lauched with system privileges.
1. Change the value of 'ScreenSaveActive' to '0' to disable the screen saver.
2. Exit Regedit and Reboot.
Note: An alternative screen saver can be used, if disabling is not an option, simple change the value of 'SCRNSAVE.EXE' in the same to key, to equal the full path of the screen saver you wish to use. A reboot is required for the changes to take affect.

Key: [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: ScreenSaveActive
Data Type: REG_SZ
Data: (0 = disabled, 1 =enabled)
